Jazz power forward Collins has undergone an MRI after spraying his left lateral ankle during a game and will be reviewed in two weeks, the team announced.
Collins was injured in the fourth quarter of the Grizzlies game and will miss the next game against the Raptors. Collins has played only 40 games for the Jazz this season because of injury, averaging 19.0 points and 8.2 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game while shooting 52.7 per cent from the field and 39.9 per cent from three-point range.
Collins was repeatedly involved in trade rumours before the trade deadline, but the Jazz ultimately decided to keep him. It’s worth mentioning that Collins has a $26.58 million player option for next season and has until June 30 to decide whether to exercise it.
In Collins’ absence, KJ-Martin is expected to take the starting role, while Filipovsky’s minutes will increase accordingly. The Jazz will closely monitor Collins’ injury and hope he can recover soon and return to the game.
