Kerr’s big moment came when the Warriors edged the Knicks 97-94 in the NBA regular season. He led the Warriors to 558 wins in the regular season, surpassing Attles for the all-time win list.
Kerr led the Warriors to the title in his first season since taking the helm in 2014 and has since won the O ‘Brien Trophy three times. Today, he is the legendary coach of the Warriors. After the game against the Knicks, Kerr’s coaching career added a new wrinkle. With the win, he reached 558 regular-season wins (and counting), passing Aaron Attles for the all-time Golden State record. Attles coached the Warriors from 1970 to 1983 and won a championship with Rick Barry in 1975.
It took Kerr just 11 seasons to lead the Warriors in wins, but he still has plenty of room to move up the NBA’s all-time head coach list. Although he has won the sixth most NBA titles as a coach, he is currently only 29th on the all-time coach wins list. Remarkably, he’s 11 games away from No. 28 Knicks coach Thibodeau, who has 569 wins (and counting).
