The Timberwolves were interested in Durant, but refused to let go of Edwards and McDaniels

According to journalist Michael Scotto, SUNS superstar Kevin Durant became the subject of a multi-team pursuit on the eve of the trade deadline, with the Warriors, Heat, Mavericks, Rockets, Grizzlies and Timberwolves all expressing strong interest. The Timberwolves reportedly pursued Durant aggressively before the trade deadline and plan to continue their efforts this summer. In trade talks, however, they were steadfast in their reluctance to part with their two star players, Edwards and McDaniels.

Randl and Divincenzo had been discussed as potential leverage for Durant in the Timberwolves’ proposed trade. Meanwhile, another Timberwolves player, Naz Reed, has attracted the attention of the SUNS in trade talks. Reed is likely to become a free agent this summer by declining to exercise his player option worth $15 million for the 2025-26 season, according to projections.

Durant has appeared in 53 games for the SUNS so far this season, averaging 26.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.3 blocks in 37.1 minutes per game. He shot 52.9 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from 3-point range and 83.0 percent from free throw range. These numbers undoubtedly prove once again that Durant as the league’s top star power.
