Zion Williamson reached another milestone of his career with his second triple-double (22 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists) in the Pelicans’ 127-120 win over the Clippers. After the game, the young All-Star spoke with the media, sharing his feelings about the game and the team’s future outlook.
Overcome the first half difficulties, play the best performance
Zion said in the interview that the first half of the game was not easy for him: “The first half of the game felt difficult, I didn’t want to let the referee’s decisions affect the rhythm of my game. Once I find my rhythm, I will put my heart into it and I will not give away the victory easily.”
Asked if the game was the best basketball performance of his career so far, Zion said: “I don’t know if it’s really up to me, but I would say it’s the best I’ve ever felt on both ends of the floor. I was able to dictate the pace of the game and contribute defensively.”
Teams discuss season setbacks and look forward to next year’s improvement
While the Pelicans’ record hasn’t been as good as expected this season, Zion said there have been in-depth discussions within the team: “We’ve talked as a team about how this season hasn’t gone the way we thought it would. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make progress next year and build better winning habits.”
Zion is confident about the future of the team: “When the summer comes, we will stick together and focus on training and promotion. When the new season starts, we will try our best to show more strength and better spirit.”
