Durant: I believe Irving is still a top player when he returns from injury

The SUNS beat the Mavericks 125-116 on the road in the NBA regular season on March 10, Beijing time. In the game, the SUNS star Durant was outstanding, playing 37 minutes, 8 of 15 shooting, including 3 3-pointers, free throws, 21 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 block overall statistics.

After the game, Durant spoke to the media. “The Mavericks didn’t have any big men today,” Durant said of the SUNS ‘season-high 68 points in the paint. “They played with five guards the whole game and that gave us a lot of opportunities to score in the paint. We took advantage of those opportunities and played an efficient offense.”

In addition, Durant also talked about the loss of Mavericks player Kyrie Irving due to injury this season. “With this kind of injury, anyone gets frustrated and angry and wondering why it happened to them, of all people,” Durant said. But it’s important to get rid of those negative feelings as soon as possible so you can recover faster.”

Durant praised Irving for his work ethic and training schedule: “He’s always been a hard worker and disciplined guy. He’s been meticulous in his training schedule and routine, day in and day out. That’s why he’s so good on the field. I firmly believe that, despite the injury, he will still be the same Owen when he returns. I’m looking forward to him coming back and getting the Mavericks back on track and playing like they always have.”

The SUNS finished the game with a 30-34 record in 11th place in the Western Conference. Despite the poor record, Durant and the rest of the SUNS are struggling to make the playoffs. I believe that under the leadership of Durant, the SUNS can play a better performance in the future games, to launch a playoff impact.
