Bayern Munich continued to consolidate its lead at the top of the Bundesliga table with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen in the 21st round of the Bundesliga. After the game, Bayern director Ebel and CEO Draysen in an interview with the media, on the team’s favourite target to attract Wilts expressed their views.
“Freund [finance director] has said that dreams are allowed,” says Ebel. Our priority right now is to complete our internal contract renewal work. After that, we will see what is possible based on the actual situation.”
Drayson further stressed: “Wirtz is one of the best German players and we all know that we want the best German players to join us at Bayern. That’s why Uli Hoeness [former Bayern president] must be right.”
Earlier, according to the reporter Falke, this summer Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen coach) and Virts are likely to stay at Leverkusen. Virts is currently negotiating with Bayer Leverkusen on a release clause in his new contract.
Mr. Falke noted that Mr. Wirtz was willing to sign a new contract with a termination clause and that the two sides were in advanced discussions about how much that clause would be. The severance payment is expected to reach nine figures. Virts wanted a release fee of around 100 million euros, while Leverkusen wanted a slightly higher sum.
Weltz has played 33 times for Leverkusen so far this season, 27 of them in the first game, scoring 15 goals and giving 11 assists. Virts is currently worth €140 million on the German market.
