Paris Saint-Germain are interested in making a bid of up to 100 million euros for Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, according to Anfield Watch, in a move that could trigger a major overhaul of the club’s squad.
The report pointed out that van Dijk has become the primary target for the greater Paris. Anfield Watch understands that PSG are in active talks with Van Dijk’s representatives, although footage circulating on social media last week of him being seen with PSG director Louis Campos has been confirmed to be a coincidence.
PSG have prepared an offer for van Dijk for two years worth €80m before tax, with a possible option for a third year. In addition, a generous signing bonus was proposed, bringing the total initial offer to 100 million euros.
Money, however, is not van Dijk’s main consideration. Van Dijk is still happy at Liverpool after the Klopp era and is open to leaving the club. PSG believe they have a chance to bring the Dutch defender to their club and are trying to persuade him to join them with good intentions and generous terms.
Liverpool also faces uncertainty over the future of other players. Salah and Arnold are out of contract, while the futures of Nunez, Dias, Jota and Simikas are also in doubt. Meanwhile, Konate is also being eyed by Real Madrid and Paris and Liverpool could face a major revamp of their squad.
For Liverpool, how to retain key players and bring in suitable replacements will be the next important task. For Paris, whether they can successfully introduce van Dijk will also have an important impact on the future of the team.
