Juventus coach Josep Motta made a profound comment on his team’s recent performance after their 3-0 defeat to Fiorencio in the 29th round of Serie A.
Motta first stressed the importance of unity as his side suffered a second consecutive three-goal or more defeat. “Everyone needs to work harder because these two losses are very bad for the team,” he said. Motta admitted that the team had not been doing well in the opening period, but at the first difficulty, the team could not find a way to fight back and keep the game in suspense. He stressed that a strong team must perform well at both ends of the pitch, which Juventus failed to do in these two games.
Speaking about the team’s problems in the game, Motta pointed out that in the one-on-one defence with Gossens, the team’s performance was not good. He mentioned that not only Muani but also Kupmenas and Thuram should make better use of space. Motta also criticised his side’s performance when entering the opposition penalty area, believing they did too little. He admitted that there was nothing to say today, the team was not good in attack and defence.
As the team’s manager, Motta bravely assumed the responsibility. He said he was the first person responsible for the team and had taken that responsibility from the first day he signed. He believes the team can do better after these two recent bad losses and, as the first person responsible, he must find solutions to help the team restore confidence and get the best out of them. Motta said he had to find ways and motivation to get the team back on the winning path.
Motta’s honesty and commitment undoubtedly injected positive energy into the team. I believe that under his leadership, Juventus can get out of the trough as soon as possible, regain confidence, and bring more wonderful games for the fans.
