Yamal: Goals need to be shown in important games, and the comeback shows the team’s determination

Barcelona striker Yamal, who scored a goal after Barcelona’s 4-2 comeback win over Atletico Madrid in the 28th round of La Liga, shared his joy and views on the game with the media.

Yamal first expressed his happiness with the victory: “I am really happy for the team to win this game, these three points are very important for us.” He went on to describe the post-match celebrations: “After the game, we celebrated together in the dressing room, the mood was very high, everyone was in the mood for the victory.”

Looking back on his team’s turnaround, Yamal said: “There were moments in the game when we were angry and powerless, but those were the emotions that brought out the best in us. Robert Lewandowski’s goal was crucial, Phelan’s goal was also important, and with their goals as a precursor, the next few goals came naturally,”

For the outside criticism of his lack of goals, Yamal has a clear understanding: “I know in my heart, if you want to score goals, then you have to score in the important games. Even if I don’t score in games when the team is winning, I don’t care too much because I know it will come at crucial moments.

Speaking about his goal, Yamal described his decision: “The ball was still on the other side of the pitch and I noticed Gallagher was getting further and further away from me. That’s when I decided to cut inside and try a long shot, which luckily went in.”

In the end, Yamal stressed the significance of the victory: “Today’s victory over Atletico showed the determination and perseverance of our team. This win means that, with one game less, we have regained the top spot in the table, which is the best reward for our efforts as a team.”
