Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said in an interview on March 11 that he is optimistic about the return of the team’s two injured players, hoping that Jonathan Kuminga and Donte Diwinenzo (Pojamski’s nickname for him) will be able to return to the game later this week.
Bodjemski (Diwinenzo) suffered from lower back pain in the previous game against the Brooklyn Nets and was forced to withdraw from the game after only 44 seconds. So far this season, he has appeared in 50 games for the Warriors, averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.2 blocks while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 31.9 percent from 3-point range and 75.7 percent from free throw range. His all-around performance and consistent contributions will be crucial for the Warriors.
Cuminga has missed multiple games with a sprained right ankle suffered against the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 4. He’s averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks per game in 32 games for the Warriors so far this season while shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from three-point range and 63.9 percent from free throw range. Kuminga’s absence has had an impact on the Warriors’ offense and defense.
Kerr’s optimistic statement certainly brought some comfort to Warriors fans. The return of the two injured players will greatly enhance the strength of the Warriors, for them in the next game to strive for better results to provide a strong guarantee.
However, the player injury situation is always full of uncertainty. Kerr said he hoped both players could return this week, but the exact timing of their return will be determined based on the players’ physical recovery and the evaluation of the medical team. So Warriors fans will have to be patient and keep cheering for the team.
The Warriors, in general, have been in the spotlight this season. With Kuminga and Pojamski on the way back, fans are looking forward to the team’s future performance. I hope both players can recover as soon as possible and contribute to the Warriors.
